LOVE DESCRIBING. FORGOT THE BOARD.

A game like Articulate.
Room for one phone?

Looking for an Articulate alternative you can play on your phone? Yapper is a separate team word-guessing game for four or more people together in the same room. One person describes, their teammates guess, and the app keeps the timer and scores.

It is free to download on iPhone and Android, with ads and optional in-app purchases. You do not need a board, physical cards or a phone for every player.

Same love of clues. A different way to play.

If the bit you enjoy is trying to explain an obvious word while your friends guess absolutely everything else, Yapper could suit your group. It is its own game, not an official Articulate app or a digital copy of its cards.

Can you play Articulate online?

If you mean playing the original game with friends in different locations, Drumond Park’s official rules page links to virtual Articulate cards for remote play. Follow the publisher’s instructions for that format.

If you mean finding a phone game for friends who are already together, that is where Yapper fits. Its full game uses one shared phone. It does not provide online matchmaking or separate remote player rooms.

You can try Yapper’s free 20-second browser mini-round before downloading. That is a small English-language practice demo, not the full multiplayer app or the Articulate game.

Start a Yapper game with four friends

  1. Make two teams of two to start. Bigger groups can add more teams in the app. Choose the language and settings together.
  2. Hand the phone to the describer. They face their teammate with the answer hidden. The opposing team watches until its turn.
  3. Describe, guess and score. For “Toolbox”, try “You keep your hammer and screwdrivers in it.” Tap Got it! when your teammate gets it right.
  4. Pass the phone between turns. The first team to reach your chosen target wins.

Keep clues fair: no parts of the answer, starting-letter clues, rhymes or pointing at objects. The full Yapper guide explains skips and optional Chaos Mode too.

Try the clues before you download.
