FOUR PEOPLE. PLENTY OF OPINIONS.

Party games for four people.
One phone is enough.

For four people, Yapper is a party word game that gives everyone a role: two teams of two, one describer, one teammate guessing, and the other pair waiting for their turn. You play together in the same room using a single iPhone or Android phone.

You do not need a board or four downloads. One person installs Yapper, and the phone moves between players. The core game is free to play, with ads and optional purchases.

Three games that work with four

Yapper: timed clues in teams

Choose this when you want a score to chase. The phone supplies words, a countdown and a scoreboard, so you can concentrate on explaining the answer without accidentally saying it.

Twenty Questions: a quieter option

One person chooses a familiar person, place or object. The other three share up to twenty yes-or-no questions to work it out. Swap the chooser each round. No equipment is needed.

Charades: let your acting do the work

Split into pairs and agree on familiar films or activities. One teammate acts without speaking while the other guesses. Use a phone timer if you want equal turns.

Set up a four-player Yapper game

  1. Make two pairs. Add your team and player names. Pick a shared language, target score, turn length and skip allowance.
  2. Face your teammate. The describer holds the phone with the answer hidden from the guesser. Keep the screen out of the opposing pair’s sight too.
  3. Describe without saying the answer. For “Umbrella”, you could say “You open this above your head when it rains.” No spelling, rhyming, starting-letter clues or parts of the answer.
  4. Tap Got it! for a correct guess. Score one point and move to the next word while time remains. Use Skip when your chosen settings allow it.
  5. Hand over between turns. Follow the app’s next-player prompt. The first team to reach the target score wins.

Read the full rules and Chaos Mode explanation before adding the optional twist where every team can guess.

SEE IT. DESCRIBE IT. GUESS IT.

Your first clue, without the awkward explanation.

Imagine two pairs sitting opposite each other. Sam is describing for Team Awesome. The answer on Sam’s phone is “Meadow”.

“An open field full of grass and wildflowers.”

Sam’s teammate guesses “Meadow”. Sam taps Got it! to add a point and reveal the next word. The other pair gets its turn when the timer ends.

Make the competition fun for both pairs

Agree on settings before you start and keep them the same for everyone. Give each player space to describe in their own way. If one pair is much more experienced, swap teammates for the next game instead of changing rules halfway through.

For a short break, set a lower target score or try a practice turn. A whole game does not have a guaranteed duration: the settings and how quickly you guess both matter.

Before you hand over the phone

Is four the maximum?

No. Four is the minimum for a full team game. Larger groups can add more teams, with at least two players per team.

Can everyone play from a different house?

Yapper is designed for people together around one phone. It does not have online matchmaking or remote multiplayer rooms. The website’s 20-second mini-round is a small browser demo.

Do we need a paid pack?

No. You can start with the core categories. Optional purchases add extras, and Remove Ads is a separate one-time purchase.

Get your people guessing.

Download Yapper on iPhone or Android. Four or more players, one shared phone. Free with ads and optional in-app purchases.
